KAWASAKI ANNOUNCES TWO ALL-NEW, 64-INCH-WIDE TRAIL EATERS FOR THE TERYX KRX/KRX4 1000 MODEL LINEUP

Made for the Trails

Kawasaki put the target squarely in its crosshairs and hit the bullseye with the new KRX/KRX4 1000 TR side-by-side models, and everyone is taking notice. At first glance, both the KRX and KRX41000 TR models exude a true trail-performance purpose and attitude. It was a smart movefor Kawasaki to enter this segment, and many enthusiasts have been waiting for it—just not the competition.

These 64-inch-wide (63.8 inches actual) trail-oriented side-by-sides feature a narrower stance that is ideal for tighter terrain. They make navigating technical trails easier and, in some cases, possible compared to Kawasaki’s wider TERYX KRX models.

The KRX and KRX4 1000 TR models are 4.3 inches narrower than the standard TERYX KRXand KRX4 models, which measure 68.1 inches wide. To achieve this reduction, both the front and rear suspension systems were revised.

Up front, the A-arms have been shortened and mounted at more upright angles, allowing the vehicles to maintain the same ground clearance as the wider models. In the rear, the upper and lower control arms have also been shortened. However, the trailing arms remain unchanged in length and retain the same mounting points.

Tuned with Comfort in Mind

The KRX and KRX4 1000 TR models utilize Showa 2.5-inch piggyback shocks. Drivers will notice that the revised suspension tuning focuses more on low- to mid-speed performance, making it better suited for tighter, slower-speed trails. The softer damping characteristics enhance ride comfort and trail compliance.

Rest assured, the Showa piggyback shocks remain highly capable when encountering larger bumps and obstacles at higher speeds. However, they have been calibrated slightly softer to better suit technical trail riding while also improving cornering confidence.

What Else?

Kawasaki didn’t just make these two models narrower for carving through the woods. They also feature 17 inches of wheel travel up front and 18 inches in the rear. The vehicles ride on 15-inch wheels (without bead locks) wrapped in 31-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires.

Powering the new TERYX KRX/KRX4 1000 TR models is Kawasaki’s 999cc parallel-twin engine paired with a CVT transmission and centrifugal clutch. The drivetrain delivers smooth, predictable power across the entire rpm range.

The two-seat TERYX KRX 1000 is available in six different trim levels, while the four-seat TERYX KRX4 1000 is offered in five trim levels, giving buyers a wide range of options to suit their riding style and budget.
