UTV Canada Presents Becky the Custom Teryx!

As one of the leading aftermarket parts and accessories companies in Canada, UTV Canada has not only pushed boundaries of importing cool UTV stuff into the Canadian marketplace, they have also built a reputation for jaw dropping “ground up” builds. Since their inception they have strived to only import the newest and freshest parts by partnering solely with quality companies that stand behind the products they manufacture. This, like every other build they do would be a shining example of this policy.

Define Your Ride – Custom Teryx from UTV Canada

The often-overlooked Kawasaki Teryx is unarguably one of the most reliable and well-made UTV platforms on the market today. The family friendly Teryx4 has never made much of a splash in the sport market; more powerful, long travel options from other manufactures seem to hog all the family friendly, sport glory. While it might not have 18 inches of wheel travel, or 110 horsepower, the Teryx4 is a super comfortable, very stable, and very reliable machine that can get a group of four to anywhere they could possibly want to be.

Affectionately named after the mechanic Andrew’s very understanding girlfriend, building “Becky” from stock to “shock” was a true undertaking. Many late nights and weekends in the shop are expected when building for perfection and “Becky” was no exception. In following with the company slogan, “DEFINE YOUR RIDE!!” UTV Canada set out to show how easily one can truly customize a more practical looking UTV like the Teryx4. As with all of their builds, UTV Canada set out to make “Becky” truly unique, with enhanced functionality, improved looks, and of course that WOW factor you get with a truly over the top, finished product.

Starting life as a brand new test machine, “Becky” was stripped of the factory cage, seats, wheels and tires. Using only quality parts that UTV Canada proudly imports and distributes, they installed a 1/8” thick American Steel heavy duty bumper from EXTREME METAL PRODUCTS. The EMP bumpers are super functional, well made, and they come with an integrated winch mounting plate and built in brush guard. To ensure that Becky was never stuck in a rut, or anywhere else for that matter, the new lifetime warrantied WARN Industries Pro Vantage 4500 lb. winch was installed.

The overall look and safety of the machine was greatly improved with a custom cage from Long Travel Industries.  As with any cage ordered from Long Travel Industries, it was customized to their individual needs. The 1.75” DOM cage features flying “V” intrusion bars and integrated rear bumper, 2-piece roof, front and rear harness bars, light bar tabs, and a whip mount. UTV Canada opted to powder coat the cage to match the Burnt Orange Teryx plastics. Rigid Industries lights were used to ensure that Becky was just as functional, reliable, and fun in the night as she was during the day. Rigid industries lights are proudly made in the USA to strict quality, durability, and functionality standards. This industry is full of cheap, lower quality knock-offs, and you will be hard pressed to find a company that stands behind their products like Rigid Industries. A 30” SR2 series light bar up top and a pair of Dually pod lights on the A-pillars literally turns night into day. A quick disconnect, 6 foot LED Whip from Tribal Whips ensures that everyone can see them coming, long before being blinded by the headlights.

The 30″ EFX MotoHammer tires are wrapped around 15″ M21 Bead-Locks from Colorado Components

This machine was built for the trails found right here in Canada, not the wide open deserts or dunes of California. Rugged 8 ply radial tires were chosen and UTV Canada used a 2” lift kit from Super ATV, along with 1 ½” High Lifter wheel spacers to clear 30 inchers for massive clearance. Colorado Components set them up with 15” M21 bead-lock rims and the new 30x10x15 Moto-Hammer tires. UTV Canada even powder-coated the bead-lock rings for color match and that personal touch.  The super tough bead-lock wheels will ensure that you can always get out of the woods, regardless of whether or not you’re still holding air.

For its intended purpose, the Teryx4 already makes pretty substantial and usable power. The only attention to engine performance was a full system Muzzy Exhaust and their Digi-Tune fuel tuner module. The Muzzy’s system maximizes performance with minimal sound levels, and the Digi-Tune keeps the air/fuel mixture proper at all times.

While the Teryx stock seats aren’t bad, PRP suspension seats provide an amazing upgrade to the overall ride comfort of any machine. PRP offers many custom options that allow you to tailor your seats to your specific needs. Custom color matched piping was a no-brainer, as was the custom stitched UTV Canada logos. Bucket seats were used up front and a three passenger GT bench seat increased the carrying capacity by one in the rear. Five harnesses were also added to increase the comfort and safety of all passengers.

What build is complete without bumps? Not this one! SSV supplied a complete custom UTV sound system with Bluetooth dock, 4 50 watt speakers and a 550 watt 10” thin profile sub. The plug and play SSV system is simple to install, sounds amazing, is completely waterproof and guaranteed to turn heads. With Becky nearing completion, UTV Canada turned to AXIA ALLOYS for trick billet A-pillar light mounts, 4” convex mirrors, and a 17” panoramic Rear-View Mirror. They also supplied tinted sun visors and a Quick Release Fire Extinguisher. An EMP full size battery tray went under the driver seat for extended freedom with all the electronics, and they used BrakeAway Products’ billet switch panel to make room for all the switches.

Dual Muzzies exhaust was the only performance boost this Teryx needed to impress.

This custom machine was a show stopper at the Toronto ATV Show, and is on its way to the Edmonton Boat and Sportsman show to do the same. Soon after this, it will surely be turning heads and creating smiles somewhere along Canada’s miles and miles of off-road trails. You too can “Define Your Ride” in this same way; all it takes is quick call to the Pros at UTV Canada.
